Novitiate Year Schedule The goals of the Novitiate year are to make time for God through prayer, to come to a awareness of one self, to broaden the mind, and to make a deeper connection with the larger Community. A typical day is this: | 6:30a.m. | Wake up | | 7:00a.m. | Local community centering prayer | | 7:30a.m. | Breakfast | | 8:00a.m. | Read local paper and America articles | | 8:30-9:30a.m. | Personal prayer time | | 10:00a.m. | Mass with larger community | | 10:30-12:00 | Novitiate Class—vows, history of religious life | | 12:00p.m. | Lunch | | 1:00-2:30p.m. | University of Saint Mary classes theology and/or pastoral ministry | | 3:00p.m. | Novitiate Class---Psalms, spiritual writers, St. Peter, SCL history | | 4:00p.m. | Study time | | 6:00p.m. | Dinner with local community | | 7:00p.m. | Prayer with local community | | 8:00p.m. | Local/Larger community activities | | 9:00p.m. | Study time | | 10:00p.m. | Local News | | 10:30p.m. | Quiet time for daily reflection and prayers | | 11:00p.m. | Lights out | A typical day may also include volunteer ministry at the local hospitals visiting patients, visiting Sisters in Ross Hall (our infirmed Sisters), driving Sisters to and from doctor’s appointments, taking Sisters shopping, and working with our grounds crew.
