- Serrans take their name from the 18th century Franciscan missionary, Junipero Serra, who founded many missions in California.
- Serrans promote and support vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
- Local clubs also support seminarians of the Archdiocese of Kansas City KS by prayer, and help them financially with book and personal expenses.
- Most clubs meet monthly and have priests, seminarian or religious sisters as their guest speakers.
- Serrans help the vocation office by assisting at 5th Grade Vocation days and other events.
