My advice to men considering the priesthood:The advice I will give to those who are considering entering the seminary is to trust in the Lord. When I entered the seminary five years ago I was afraid, because I was thinking too much about what if it doesn’t work. The what if, was in the way, not allowing me to trust in the Lord. “Do not be afraid” to be part of this great mystery of love, taking part of the great plan of God in the priesthood. Prayer is very impotent if you want to do God’s will, so pray to the Lord asking Him as you will ask to a good friend of yours, what He wants you to do. Visit the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament - talk to Him, but more important listen to Him. Go to mass daily if it is possible. The last advice I will give to you is to take Mary to your Home as your Mother. The Apostle John took Mary as his mother and I think she taught him all about her beloved son. The gospel of John and his letters reflect it. Mary will teach you the way on how to do God’s will, as she did her self, and will teach you how to become a good priest.
Why I want to be a Priest: I want to be a good friend with Jesus and help others to be friends with Him. I want to lead people to God and I believe the priesthood is to lead people to the encounter with God. The priest is to be a shepherd for souls to help them encounter the Creator. In the world we live in people need others to come to the encounter with God. I think God is calling me to know Him, to be his friend, and to help others to have the same encounter with Him. I want to do God’s will and I think God is calling me to serve the people in the priesthood.
Hobbies & Interests: reading, mountain climbing, camping
Influence: Our Blessed Mother, and my family.
Apostolic Work:The apostolic I have done during my time in the seminary was: nursing homes for the first two years, my third year was in a mental hospital, and last year I worked in a center where people who do not have clothing or food come and we help them. It is like Catholic charities. The three places were great because all this is about helping others, and that is the reason I want to become a priest - to help others. |
