My advice to men considering the priesthood: Be not afraid! Considering the priesthood is something all men should experience. We all should desire to befriend Christ and follow Him wherever He may lead us. In prayer, tell Him that you are completely His, and that you will go wherever He leads you. Work to live the life of Christ, a life of service to others. Don't be afraid to ask others to pray for you and to look to the saints for inspiration. Come to know our Blessed Mother in a personal way, and ask her to lead you to her Son. Finally, honor the fact that the Lord has placed a desire within you to know His will for more fully. Entering the seminary is not “signing on the dotted line” for priesthood. Rather, it is simply a display of courage and loyalty to leave everything behind to walk with Christ as He shows you how you are meant to serve Him. It is nothing more than a place to come to know the Lord and His desires for you more fully. Most importantly, be courageous! Let Him lead you, and when He does, follow Him!
Why I want to be a Priest: I want to be a priest because I want to follow Jesus as closely as possible, and He has been leading me to consider the priesthood. The Lord has blessed me with a great love for our Church, and a desire to serve her in a very unique way. Among the greatest joys I have found in my life come from partaking in the sacraments and leading souls to Christ; two activities which priests play an enormous role in. Priests are privileged to serve all of humanity, just as Jesus did. They are charged with the daunting tasks of leading souls to Christ and protecting souls from the evil one. While these are enormous responsibilities, I have found a desire in my heart to be a warrior for Christ, and to do all that I can to serve Jesus as an instrument He uses to build the Kingdom of God. Most importantly, I desire to serve Christ as a priest because I want to help myself and as many people as I can to become one with Him in Heaven. Right now, the priesthood appears to be the best means for me to get myself and many others to Heaven.
Hobbies & Interests: Leading myself and others to Christ, Reading, Exercising, Spending time with my family and friends, playing/watching/following sports (more specifically Husker football, Royals baseball, and Creighton everything else!), the Lives of the Saints, the Catholic Church!
