My advice to men considering the priesthood: Take time in silence, spend time in front of the Blessed Sacrament and ask God what He desires you to do. Read "A Priest is Not His Own" by Fulton Sheen. Use the meditations at the beginning of "Introduction to the Devout Life" by St. Francis de Sales, speak to a priest and ask advice. Do not be concerned with preconceived notions of what will be enjoyable or what you think you may miss out on. There can be no greater joy, no greater satisfaction, no greater mission, no greater good you can do for the world than to be a priest if God is calling you to be one. The most important thing you can do is to spend time in prayer, preferably in front of the Blessed Sacrament, asking God about His will for you! Trust in Him.
Why I want to be a Priest: I desire to be as Priest first and foremost because I believe God is calling me to be one.
I desire to be a Priest not to only help others to avoid hell, and get to Heaven, but to enjoy the life that God has given them here on earth. A Priest stands up to the attacks on God’s children and protects them from the enemy. By educating he prepares them to take Christ to the world, to conform the world to Christ’s Church, to bring the truth of Catholicism to the public and use it to combat the current evils of the day, to educate the culture in the beauty of the Church and all of her teachings, especially the most debated and misunderstood sexuality, chastity, and morality.
I believe this includes promoting the Church and her Sacraments especially Confession, Celebrating the Mass with the reverence and devotion it deserves—although this is impossible we must try - and witnessing to the truth. I believe in promoting the devotions of the Church, Eucharistic Adoration, Fasting, the Rosary, and seeking intercession from the Communion of Saints, especially Our Blessed Mother.
We live in a society that seems to have lost its identity. Men no longer know what it is to be a man and women no longer know what it is to be a woman. We have lost our dignity as images and likenesses of God and I would like to help people to realize that dignity once again.
To bring others to Christ, and Christ to others, by allowing Him to use me as an instrument, is my desire. I wish to unite myself to Him in such a way that He shines through me as a monstrance. I believe I can best do this as a Priest.
