Ten New Seminarians for 2009-10

 

This year we are blessed to accept ten new seminarians for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. They range in age from 18 to 34; from just out of high school to those who are leaving careers. Please pray for them as they transition to their formation at the seminary. Along with our other seminarians, we will have a total of 26 in formation for the Archdiocese. Here is our new group listed by the seminary they will be attending.

    Mundelein Seminary, North Chicago area. All are Pre-Theology I
1.    Jeff Lamott, 33 – Jeff is a parishioner from St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Leawood, where he was very involved in parish life. He grew up in Topeka and graduated from K-State with a degree in Management Information Systems. Most recently Jeff was a commercial real estate broker.
2.    Dan Morris, 34 – Dan is originally from Sacred Heart in Topeka, but had been living in KC, Mo for a few years and was involved at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He graduated from KU with a degree focused on graphic design. Most recently Dan was the principal designer for the new Royals Baseball Hall of Fame, and has worked on other national museum projects.
3.    David Pratt, 31 – David is a native of Ottawa, KS and a member of Holy Cross in Overland Park. He graduated from K-State with a degree in Kinesiology, and most recently was working at DST Systems. He has one brother and three sisters.
4.    Adam Wilczak, 25 – Adam is a native of Topeka and St. Matthews Parish. He went to Catholic grade school and Hayden High School. He attended Washburn but graduated from Benedictine College with a degree in Religious Studies. Last year Adam taught Theology at Bishop LeBlond HS in St. Joseph.

    Kenrick Glennon Seminary, St. Louis
1.    Jonathan Dizon, 32 – Jonathan is originally from the Philippines and came to the United States to earn a Masters degree and then a doctoral degree in Physics at KU. There he became acquainted with our Archdiocese through the St. Lawrence Center. Jonathan will be Pre-Theology I.
2.    Tom Hornbeck, 28 – Tom is from Overland Park and Curé of Ars Parish. He has one younger brother. Tom attended both K-State and KU, getting a BS in History and a Masters degree in Geography respectively. He recently left a job in geospatial mapping to become a seminarian, also in Pre-Theology I.
3.    Matt Nagle, 24 – Matt is from Overland Park and was educated at Curé of Ars, Rockhurst HS, and then KU where he got his degree in History. For the past year he was a teacher at St. Pius X High School in Kansas City, MO. Matt will be Pre-Theology I.
4.    Justin Nelson, 34 – Justin grew up in the Stanley area and attended schools there. He took classes at Pittsburg State, but left to work in sales, and then start his own businesses. Justin has done sidewalk counseling near abortion clinics and other pro-life work. He will be a second year college student.

    Conception Seminary College, MO – First Year College
1.    Andrew Downey, 18 – Andrew comes from Louisburg and Holy Rosary Parish in Wea. He was home schooled along with his eight other siblings. He enjoys life and chores on the family farm.
2.    Hunter Hamilton, 18 – Hunter also comes from Holy Rosary in Wea, and recently graduated from Rockhurst High School. There are twelve children in the family, and Hunter has spent many years working for the family business – Bob Hamilton Heating & Cooling. He loves to water ski and competes in regional and national tournaments.
